The City Dark |   TC State Theatre   |   6pm – 8:30pm   |   Adult $15    Student $5
We are featuring the EMMY-nominated film The City Dark: A Search for Night on a Planet that Never Sleeps at the beautifully restored Traverse City State Theatre. The science documentary explores the loss of darkness at night and how ever-brighter night skies affect life on the planet … from plants and sea turtles to humans.  Before the film begins, Dr. Jerry Dobek, the director of Joseph H. Rogers Observatory and an instructor at Northwestern Michigan College (and a Royal Astronomical Society Fellow) will give the audience a tour of his summer night-sky replica on the theater’s ceiling. Mary Stewart Adams, program director of the International Dark Sky Park at the Headlands in northern Michigan, will also address the audience. The State Theatre is located at 233 E. Front Street in downtown Traverse City.
